With thousands of employees spread out all over the world, Sumo Group needed a learning platform that could surface employee expertise, share it across the entire company, and connect those in different locations. When looking for a new LMS, Sumo found the more traditional platforms didn’t have the social features they needed to fulfil their vision.
Their key objective was to cultivate a culture in which everybody can take ownership of their own personal development. The platform also needed to serve as the perfect workplace hub for leaders to get messages out to the whole organisation. Finally as a gaming company with UI and UX at the heart of what they do, it was crucial their LMS was engaging, easy and intuitive. Enter Thrive.

The positive impacts of DOJO were felt strongly in Sumo's employees' responses to The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For survey. From 2019 to 2021, Sumo's overall score went from 1 star (very good) to 3 stars (world-class). What's more, by highlighting L&D and DOJO during recruitment, they saw a 42% increase in overall talent, and a 10% increase in promotions compared to 2020-2021.
After using the services of Thrive’s in-house team of Data Analysts as a part of the Thrive Impact service, Sumo were able to prove the impact of their learning activity – leading to our partnership winning two awards: The Digital prize at the 2022 Learning Excellence Awards, and silver in 'Best Use of Digital Technologies' at the 2022 UK Employee Experience Awards.
