Dorset Council upgrades their learning strategy with the help of Thrive, rolling out a dynamic, all-in-one LMS to their 4,800+ employees -- and enjoying a record-breaking one million content views as a result.

“We knew that we needed a new modern learning platform … to increase engagement, and get better return on our investment. We wanted something that provided the social element, as well as gamification, and Thrive was able to deliver all of those straight out of the box.”

About
Dorset Council

Dorset Council oversees a wide range of crucial public services, touching on everything from education to waste management and ensuring the well-being and progress of their community. With 4,800+ employees and 450 services covered, they needed a new LMS to unite their teams all across the county.

Learning without limits

With over 4,800 employees across 450 services, Dorset Council boasts an extremely diverse range of job roles within its workforce. Their people being so spread out across roles – from office-based to front-line – presented a real challenge when it came to delivering training and making everyone feel like one, united workforce who could communicate effortlessly.

Their legacy LMS just wasn’t going to fit the bill when it came to the new, digital learning strategy they envisioned for their employees. On their checklist: A modern, engaging learning platform with social and communication elements that would provide a better Return on Investment when it came to training. It also needed to have faultless compliance functionality to ensure they were adhering to regulations.

From siloed to social

Thrive was a strikingly perfect solution to Dorset Council’s very specific needs. With built-in comms features, campaign functionality and content flexibility, it had the ability to meet all the items on their checklist. Not only can the Council give their learning initiatives the impact they deserve by linking them to a campaign, they can also target their learning to specific audiences and see analytics.

As well as reporting and insights, one of the key features that stood out for Dorset Council is user generated content, as it's something that wasn't supported in their previous platform. The ability for learners to share useful resources with their colleagues helps the team at Dorset Council foster a social learning culture, and extract knowledge from department silos.

Record-breaking views, future-ready leaders

The results of the partnership between Dorset Council and Thrive speak for themselves: Thanks in part to their platform, the Council gained a record-breaking one million content views since launch -- and that’s not all. They have used Thrive’s targeted learning pathways to hone in on leadership, giving their future managers all the tools and knowledge they need to reach their goals.

This leadership development training is all stored in one, accessible place and tailored to its exact intended audience – so no time or resources are wasted. The new strategy is underpinned by Thrive’s unrivalled, 24/7 customer support team who have really taken the time to get to know Dorset Council, meaning they can always be one step ahead of their needs.

Our old system was very much a "one-size-fits-all" approach, and we wanted to move towards a much more modern, user-friendly learning platform. We did a lot of market research, and Thrive was the most intuitive.
